Ubisoft has successfully reinvented its Assassin’s Creed franchise as an action RPG with this year’s Assassin’s Creed Origins– in many ways, doing so has helped them realize the full potential of what the franchise was capable of achieving.
They are going to keep supporting the game over time, too. A new update planned for this month will add a substantial amount of new content to the title, including a new Horde Mode, a new quest, a new Nightmare difficulty level, enemy scaling, and more. If you are a fan of Origins, this new content should keep you playing for some time to come- not that there is any shortage of actual meaningful content in the game, either.
Assassin’s Creed Origins launched on October 27 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Taking cues from The Witcher 3, and injecting a dose of systemic emergence similar to Breath of the Wild, it represents one of the most compelling games of the year.
