Assassin’s Creed Shadows Won’t Require an Online Connection at All Times, Says Ubisoft

While Ubisoft Quebec's open-world title is playable offline, installing it for the first time requires an internet collection.

After the PlayStation Store listing for Assassin’s Creed Shadows indicated online play is “required,” Ubisoft has clarified that an internet connection isn’t mandatory at all times. It also confirmed that players can play the open-world title offline.

However, internet connectivity is necessary for installing the game for the first time, which is one of the main concerns for buying it physically. If servers aren’t available for whatever reason, physical copy owners are out of luck. Ubisoft didn’t explicitly address this pain point, but hopefully, it will have more details later.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available worldwide on November 15th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. You can check out details on the Gold and Ultimate Editions, which offer three days of early access and the Season Pass, with access to two expansions and bonus quest. There’s also a breakdown of the recent cinematic trailer that more details on the setting and lead characters, Naoe and Yasuke.
