Ubisoft announced Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate yesterday, and as is par for the course for a Ubisoft game, it will be getting an unreasonable amount of Special Editions. To be precise, Syndicate will be getting four special editions, plus the standard one, although to be fair, it sounds like each of them provides some good bonus materials.
First up, the Standard Edition- it will cost £49.99, and include the Darwin and Dickens Conspiracy Mission, which sees main character Jacob Frye defend the two historical figures in around an hour’s worth of extra gameplay. Every other edition of the game also includes this- it’s a free bonus for everyone who buys the title at launch.
The Gold Edition of the game will cost £69.99, and include the Season Pass, as well as an exclusive Baker Street Outfit. Bafflingly, the Assassin’s Creed Syndicate The Rooks Edition will include an artbook, soundtrack, double-sided London map and exclusive collector’s box, but not a Season Pass. It costs £59.99.
In case all of that was easy to keep track of, don’t worry, Ubisoft has you covered. The Charing Cross Edition costs £74.99, and includes the Runaway Train mission, artbook, soundtrack and map, plus its own exclusive box and a 26cm figurine of Jacob. Of course, making this an obvious step up over the other two tiers would make too much sense, so it, too, does not include a Season Pass.
Thankfully, there is an end to this madness. The Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Big Ben Edition includes the Runaway Train mission, artbook, soundtrack, map, another special box and an even more extravagant version of the Jacob figurine, standing against a set of clock machinery, a FuturePak case, “premium” hip flask with Assassin’s Creed branding and an exclusive numbered lithograph, and, thankfully, the Season Pass. So yes, this right here is the Ultimate Edition of the game, so to speak, which lets you get all the physical and digital goodies right at once. Unfortunately, it costs £114.99.
If you can keep track of all of that, and also figure out which one of these to buy, more power to you. I’m giving up on these, and crying myself to sleep tonight.
