In case you are experiencing crashes while playing Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Unity (and let’s be honest, you almost certainly are), Ubisoft has posted a temporary workaround that should be a bandaid on the problem while they continue to work on a real solution. The crashes, and the solution, will work on every single system the game is released on- Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
The culprit here seems to be the ‘social’ feature, proving, once again, that trying to needlessly shoehorn network functionality (or ambition) into your games is not a good idea (not like we needed any more proof anyway).
Anyway, Ubisoft’s solution to the issue is as follows:
Do’nt add any in-game Recent Player as a game contact. If you already have game contacts, you will need to remove them:
- Go to My Brotherhood
- Select My Contacts
- Select Game Contacts (using RB/R1)
- Focus on a Contact (LS)
- Select More Actions (Y/Triangle)
- Remove from contacts
This should help fix the issue at least somewhat. If you are still having issues, you will need to contact Ubisoft for support.
