Assassin’s Creed Unity Project Widow Lets You Start a Social Revolution

Andy Serkis ties up with Ubisoft for a virtual Paris touring tool.

Andy Serkis, the king of motion capture and voice of Gollum in the LOTR films,  and Ubisoft have launched their own virtual tour of a modern day Paris called Project Widow.

The tour takes you around many of the major Parisian landmarks ranging from The Bastille to Notre Dame, all while using a convenient and familiar Google Maps-esque interface. The tour doesn’t just bring you to locales of interest and show you around like you’re run of the mill generic guided tour.

Players can uncover bits of information, trivia and game videos as they explore. There’s a certain meta-game aspect to Project Widow, though what it is, we don’t yet know (it does remind us of the same world-exploring tool launched by Bungie for Destiny). It apparently ties in to how many people are exploring and sharing the site through social media. This is certainly a strange event, but hopefully we can see what it will lead to on November 11th when the game launches.
