Assassin’s Creed Unity Sales Numbers Still Surpassing Expectations

Despite good sales from Unity, Ubisoft sales are down.

While the news surrounding Assassin’s Creed: Unity was about users’ disappointment with the game when it was first released, the fact of the matter is the title has sold better than Ubisoft expected, especially when talking about how quickly the game is selling to this day. That was the good news from Ubisoft as they announced their earnings for the last quarter which just ended on June 30. Unity was absolutely wracked with problems on almost every spectrum, but Ubisoft says all of those problems have since been ironed out.

The company also says it has started to think about the way it works going forward because of the way the launch went. The firm says that as of December 31, Assassin’s Creed Unity and Rogue combined for 10 million units in sales. That indeed was the good news. The bad news is that the firm saw revenues in the last quarter drop a massive 73 percent compared to the same quarter last year. While some people might think that drop is cause to panic, it should be pointed out that Ubisoft launched Watch Dogs in that quarter last year.

While that game too, has seen it’s share of disappointed gamers, it certainly had a massive opening. Ubisoft is also trying to claim things aren’t as bad as they seem, because the revenue numbers had actually surpassed what the firm expected. Considering that Unity has had good sales, and Black Flag before it was a critical hit, it stands to reason that Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate will spark some rather good sales numbers later this fall.
