Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will continue on the iconic and beloved series at the end of this year, complete with massive world, tons of post-launch content and the promise of a wild story mixing history and sci-fi goodness. It’ll also bring something new to the table as well, since it will be the first in the franchise to launch on the upcoming next generation consoles. While there’s sure to be enhancements, some could still end up disappointed depending on what you’re expecting.
The Portuguese branch of Eurogamer reached out about the game’s performance and managed to get some clarification about how the game will run on Microsoft’s upcoming machine. The statement reads that the Xbox Series X version of the title will run at a minimum of 30 FPS on the system, while maintaining a 4K resolution (presumably this will be the same on the PS5 version, but only the Series X is specified).
“Currently, we can guarantee that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will run at least 30 FPS. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will benefit from faster loading times, allowing players to immerse themselves in history and the world without friction. Finally, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will benefit of improved graphics made possible by the Xbox Series X, and we can’t wait to see the beautiful world we’re creating in stunning 4K resolution. ”
A few things jump out, such as the lack of clarification if this means the game will aim for higher than 30 FPS with an uncapped framerate, or whether or not there will be a performance mode of some kind that will prioritize framerate over resolution. It’s also worth nothing that as of writing this, only the Portuguese side of Eurogamer has reported any contact with Ubisoft about the subject, so clarification could come later on.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will release this holiday season, and Ubisoft will host a digital event at the beginning of July that could give us more information, which you can read more about through here.
