Astro Bot Was the No. 2 Best-selling Game in the US in its Launch Week

NBA 2K25 was the only game to sell higher than Sony and Team Asobi's widely acclaimed platformer in the United States across the week that it came out.

On top of enjoying widespread critical acclaimAstro Bot has also got off to good start where its sales are concerned, seeing impressive figures in both the UK and Japan. In fact, Sony and Team Asobi’s platformer has seen similar early success in the US as well.

Shared by Circana analyst Mat Piscatella on Bluesky, Astro Bot was the second best-selling title in the United States in the week that it came out, in terms of both digital and physical sales. The only game to sell more over the course of the week was NBA 2K25. Meanwhile, the special edition Astro Bot-themed DualSense that released alongside the game was also the US’ best-selling accessory for the week.

In our review of Astro Bot, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “Astro Bot is a wonderful love letter to all things PlayStation, and an exceptional platformer in its own right. If you own a PS5, you need to play this game.” Read the full review through here.

Astro Bot is available on PS5. Team Asobi is currently working on free DLC for the platformer that will add several new speedrun levels, new VIP bots, and leaderboards. The base game’s end credits suggest its upcoming VIP bots will be characters from franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Rise of the Ronin, Rayman, and more. Read more on that through here

Don't usually talk weeklies but wanted to add some context to the UK reporting from last week. Across both physical & digital, Astro Bot ranked 2nd in unit sales in the US for w/e Sept 7th (behind only NBA 2K25), and the Astro Bot DualSense was the week's best-selling accessory. Solid week 1.
