Baldur’s Gate 3 Details: Turn-Based Combat, Divinity 4.0, Over 100 Hours of Gameplay, and More

1.5 million words of dialogue, hundreds of spells, Attitude and Crime Systems, and much more await.

Larian Studios has released a whole bunch of details for Baldur’s Gate 3 following its recent reveal. The title will be going into early access this year with the first act playable, five Origins characters and six classes to choose from. What else can be expected for the full release?

First of, the game is built with the new Divinity 4.0 engine and features 1.5 million words of dialogue across performance captured cinematics. Though Alignments aren’t here, there is an Attitude System (where Companions can clash with you over your actions) and a Crime System that can affect reputation. “Hundreds” of locations true to the Dungeons and Dragons lore are here – including Baldur’s Gate and areas beyond the Forgotten Realms – with over 100 hours of gameplay.

The total number of races and sub-races will be 15 along with eight classes (more will be announced later). The campsite sees players resting and interacting with their comrades to build relationships. As for the combat, it’s turn-based and players can even use turn-based mode for puzzle-solving and sneak attacks. Stealth is “non-binary” and reliant on lighting and shadows present. Also, spell-casters can expect hundreds of different spells and actions.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently in development for PC and Google Stadia.
