Baldur’s Gate 3 Players Facing Bug That Prevents Saving

A bug that prevents saving is making players lose quite a bit of their progress in Baldur's Gate 3. The developer has suggested some possible fixes.

Shortly after the launch of Baldur’s Gate 3, players have discovered a new bug with the game that’s giving them quite a bit of trouble. The bug essentially prevents players from saving their games, causing them to lose progress.

Quite a few potential fixes have been spoken about in the game’s Steam forums, with developer Larian also hoping to provide some help with a troubleshooting guide. The studio has provided a number of possible steps that could help prevent the bug, which includes turning off cloud sync for Baldur’s Gate 3, removing the game’s save data folder, and starting the game without enabling cloud sync.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been quite successful for Larian, even going as far as seeing over 470,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch. The game spent few years as an early access title, seeing a full release just yesterday. With the PC version’s release out of the way, the consoles will follow down the line, with a PS5 release slated for September 6. Xbox Series X/S may not see release until 2024.
