Baldur’s Gate 3 Saw Over 470,000 Concurrent Players on Steam at Launch

Larian Studios' long-awaited CRPG has got off to a flying start upon its 1.0 release, hitting a peak Steam concurrent user count of 472,136.

One of the most highly anticipated releases of the year, Baldur’s Gate 3, is out now on PC, and given the massive levels of excitement it generated in the lead-up to its launch, it’s not a surprise to see that it’s got off to a flying start.

As per SteamDBBaldur’s Gate 3 hit a peak concurrent user count on Steam of 472,136 players. To put it in context, the all-time peak of Larian’s previous game, Divinity: Original Sin 2, sits at over 93,000 concurrent users.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently the second-most played game on Steam, trailing only behind Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and sitting above the likes of Dota 2, Apex Legends, and PUBG: Battlegrounds. Meanwhile, as per Twitch Tracker, the game had a peak of 479,179 on launch day.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available only on PC, but a PS5 version is set to launch on September 6. Larian Studios is also working on Xbox Series X/S versions, but due to technical difficulties with the implementation of splitscreen brought about by the Xbox Series S’ weaker hardware, the game is unlikely to hit Xbox before 2024.
