One of the most highly anticipated releases of the year, Baldur’s Gate 3, is out now on PC, and given the massive levels of excitement it generated in the lead-up to its launch, it’s not a surprise to see that it’s got off to a flying start.
As per SteamDB, Baldur’s Gate 3 hit a peak concurrent user count on Steam of 472,136 players. To put it in context, the all-time peak of Larian’s previous game, Divinity: Original Sin 2, sits at over 93,000 concurrent users.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently the second-most played game on Steam, trailing only behind Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and sitting above the likes of Dota 2, Apex Legends, and PUBG: Battlegrounds. Meanwhile, as per Twitch Tracker, the game had a peak of 479,179 on launch day.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available only on PC, but a PS5 version is set to launch on September 6. Larian Studios is also working on Xbox Series X/S versions, but due to technical difficulties with the implementation of splitscreen brought about by the Xbox Series S’ weaker hardware, the game is unlikely to hit Xbox before 2024.
