Batman: Arkham Knight Has No Loading Screens, Cutscenes Rendered in Realtime

Director Sefton Hill promises no loading screens throughout the open world title.

In a new episode of Arkham Insider (transcription via Siliconera), Batman: Arkham Knight director Sefton Hill revealed that the upcoming open world action adventure title won’t have any loading screens.

“No loading screens as you play through the whole game. You can play from the start of the game to the end of the game, [and] you won’t see any loading screens. That’s all a really big, important thing for us.”

The in-game cutscenes have also been significantly improved to the point where they will now be rendered in realtime and reflect whatever outfit Batman is wearing.

“The cinematics in the game are rendered in realtime now, so if you’re wearing a different skin for Batman, that skin is going to carry into the cinematics. It looks great as well. And we really want to make sure that the character you’re playing is the character that appears in the cinematics.”

This isn’t the first time an open world title on current gen consoles has boasted no loading screens, since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt features none when traveling through the open world. Loading screens do pop up when moving from zone to zone and fast traveling though so it will be interesting to see how exactly Batman: Arkham Knight handles it.
