Battleborn Isn’t Really a MOBA, Will Have Deep Narrative Campaign

Gearbox's Randy Pitchford says there will be more information to come this month.

Gearbox Software won’t be creating Borderlands 3 (at least, not for this year) but have instead revealed their upcoming online shooter Battleborn, which will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC and include various co-op elements. There were reports that the game is a massively online battle arena or MOBA game which has caused some concern among fans of Borderlands but CEO Randy Pitchford refuted these allegations on his Twitter.

In response to a fan, Pitchford said that, “Moba’s are fun, but Battleborn isn’t really a moba. What don’t you like about Moba’s? (sincerely curious)”

On being told that most MOBAs lack story, exploration and looting, Pitchford responded that, “Battleborn isn’t a moba, then, because it has a deep narrative campaign with heros, villains, twists, turns and progression.”

He also promised that there would be more information revealed all throughout this month courtesy of Game Informer.
