Battlefield 1: Vehicle Head Glitch Needs To Be Addressed

Heads in the sand, in this case literally.

Battlefield 1 has a rather unusual glitch, but one that a lot of players are nonetheless exploiting. The glitch essentially has to do with vehicle heads- as soon as you get into a vehicle, the camera switches to a third person mode, letting you see more in the distance. This means that you are, while in a vehicle, able to hit things that you actually can’t even see (which is evident as soon as you switch into first person mode).

Why does this matter? This matters because to the person or thing being shot, they suddenly get attacked by something that they cannot see, and therefore not avoid. In a lot of cases, the fire is coming from unlikely places, such as through the sand in the ground, or through trees- the actual physics of line of sight and point of view don’t make much, if any, sense.

It’s something that DICE should look into addressing- Battlefield 1 is an exemplary game, and something like this, while small, can still be exploited en masse and wreck the game’s balance. Hopefully DICE look into this soon. The game is now available for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
