Battlefield 1 will be a return to the roots for DICE and the Battlefield series in a lot of ways- and one of the ways DICE will be doing this is by returning to larger maps again for the multiplayer mode, rather than the relatively more cramped maps favoring closed quarters combat that DICE seemed to prefer in Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4.
This was confirmed, as Reddit points out, in a recent interview, where DICE confirmed that Battlefield 1 will have some of the biggest maps DICE has ever done- although players shouldn’t worry about unnecessary bloat either. DICE confirmed that they will have maps of a lot of sizes in the game, from the larger ones, yes, to smaller and more cramped ones too, so you won’t always be on a large, sprawling map, just trying to actually come across another player to engage.
In a lot of ways, the game sounds perfect- like the kind of classic Battlefield that made us fall in love with the series in the first place. Battlefield 1 will be launching this October, on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
