Bethesda’s Pete Hines Is “Very Impressed” With PS5’s DualSense

Hines says the DualSense will make you "immediately forget about a PS4 controller."

The PS5’s DualSense has been grabbing headlines of late, with the newly revealed controller having impressed many with not just its new aesthetic, but also some of its features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Some in the industry have already spoken about how they feel about it, and another person who seems to be excited about what Sony have done with it is Bethesda’s senior vice president of global communications and marketing, Pete Hines.

Taking to Twitter, Hines said that having tried the controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for himself, he was “very impressed” with what he had experienced, and that he thinks “games are gonna do some really cool things with them.” In a subsequent tweet, Hines said that the DualSense makes you “immediately forget about a PS4 controller,” before adding, “I went back and forth between them and you immediately just want to use the PS5.”

Features such as the controller’s haptics and adaptive triggers do sound intriguing, though how well they’re utilized ultimately depends on the developers- I imagine first parties will get the most and best use out of it. Then there are other factors such as its new Create button, which Sony have yet to give more details on. That said, early impressions on the controller certainly seem very positive.

It was recently confirmed that contrary to a few early reports, the DualSense will indeed still have an audio jack, while Sony also claim that the controller will “maintain strong battery life.”
