Biomutant was an interesting and promising project that went silent shortly after being unveiled about two years ago. There was a lot of initial concern about whether the game had been cancelled, but it returned with nearly 10 minutes of raw gameplay last month. While we still don’t know when the game is coming out, it is currently slated to come only for current generation consoles. But don’t worry early next gen adapters, you’re covered.
In an interview with Gamereactor, Producer Stefan Ljungqvist was asked if he had concerns about launching a game only for current gen as the shiny new consoles will be sucking up the air, so to speak. He said that wasn’t, and that the team was focusing on making the game the best they could. When asked about potential PS5 and Xbox Series X versions, he gave a very simple answer: “Let me say this: you will be able to play Biomutant on your new console.”
It’s not clear if Ljungqvist means simple backwards compatibility or is hinting at a native PS5 and Xbox Series X version yet unannounced, but much like the alleged lack of microtransactions, it’s sure to make some people happy to know you’ll be covered on next gen.
