Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night producer Koji Igarashi has offered an update on the title’s post-launch content and updates via Kickstarter. One of the promised new modes, Roguelike, will no longer be coming to the game due to its incompatibility “with this type of gameplay (especially a procedurally generated castle).” It’s certainly a bummer considering this was a stretch goal but the development team has something else in mind with Randomizer.
Randomizer, which launches along with first free character Zangetsu, allows for replaying the story but with eight different randomized parameters. These include having items spawn just about anywhere, key items being shuffled around or “anywhere” and so on. Naturally, there will be safeguards in place so that every item required for progressing through the story can be obtained.
Players can also generate and share seeds for these random runs, sharing them online and competing for the best time. Igarashi also clarified that Boss Revenge mode would release after Zangetsu and Randomizer have been added, not at the same time. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
