For a game that hasn’t even been announced yet, we’ve heard a surprising amount of stuff about Borderlands 3, which makes the fact that it hasn’t been officially revealed all the more frustrating (well, that and the several years of waiting we’ve all done so far). Time and time again we’ve expected to see the game at one major event or the other, and time and time again, we’ve come away disappointed with its absence.
However, it’s looking like that might be about to change soon. Randy Pitchford, head of developers Gearbox, has been dropping some major hints on his Twitter account lately, all of which constantly and repeatedly seem to be dropping the number “three”, almost as if the man is trying to tease his fans into oblivion.
For example, he tells us that he has 3 things on his to-do list for the day, but that he also has to attend 3 meetings, before 3 PM. In another tweet, he shares some interesting (?) facts about how November 29th was the 333rd day of the year, before quipping about how people seem to attach so much meaning to a seemingly arbitrary number. Either he’s messing with us, or he just likes the number 3 a lot (unlike Gabe Newell).
The Game Awards are going to host over ten new game announcements when they air on December 6, so there’s huge chance that one of those games could be the long-awaited Borderlands 3. That said, Pitchford has joked about this sort of stuff in the past as well, so you never know.
