Gearbox Software continues to hype up Borderlands 3, from the interactive skill trees that players can use to construct character builds to the numerous trailers released till now. Much like its predecessors, the looter shooter will have DLC, offering new stories and missions after launch. Though more details will be provided at Gamescom and PAX West, lead writers Danny Homan and Sam Winkler did offer some teases.
Speaking to DualShockers, Winkler stated that each DLC pack will be “big” and “a lot of fun”. Homan said that they’re “all so different” in terms of the campaigns offered. You can expect the stories contained within to “get a little more weird and a little more focused” as per Winkler. The base game’s story will be a “huge, galaxy-spanning story arc” with “a lot crammed into it.”
The DLC campaigns will also seem to offer “a different aesthetic, go with a different vibe, and play with how you do storytelling” and the development team is “really excited about what those DLCs are going to be.”
Borderlands 3 is out on September 13th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It’s exclusive to the Epic Games Store on PC until April 2020 and will include Denuvo anti-tamper technology (but sadly, no option to pre-load the game before launch). In terms of content, players can expect way more than Borderlands 2 with the main story taking 35 hours to complete.
