Borderlands 3 in Development “Specifically for Next Gen Consoles”

Don't expect to see the next Borderlands on PS3 and Xbox 360.

The next Borderlands, which Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford took to Twitter to hire for, is in development “specifically for next gen consoles” according to Take Two president Karl Slatoff. This revealed this during an earnings call and pretty much dashes any hopes that Borderlands 3 will be out on Xbox 360 and PS3. Sorry, previous gen owners.

Gearbox is busy bringing Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel to the current generation with Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, which features both games remastered to a 1080p resolution for the PS4 and Xbox One besides including all previously released DLC content. The company is also collaborating with Telltale Games for Tales From the Borderlands and working on other endeavours like Battleborn.

There’s been no information regarding a release date or even an announcement for Borderlands 3 so it may be a while. Perhaps we’ll receive more information at E3 2015? Regardless, stay tuned for more information on the game in the coming months.
