All eyes are on Naughty Dog with the upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End on the PlayStation 4, which is widely expected to be a return to form for the series after a couple of poor showings with 2011’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and the 2012 PS Vita launch title Uncharted: The Golden Abyss.
Now, with Game Informer doing the cover story for Uncharted 4 in its February issue, it appears a lot more information about the game has come to light- information that our friends at NeoGAF have conveniently gathered for us in one place. Gather around, folks, cause this will be epic. And bear in mind, STORY SPOILERS MAY FOLLOW:
- The game takes place three years after the end of Uncharted 3; Drake is living a happy life with Elena when Sam appears. Drake thought Sam was dead before his sudden re-appearance.
- Sam needs Drake’s help- his life depends on the recovery of an artifact for a certain benefactor. Drake feels indebted to his brother and gets pulled into the mess.
- As much as Drake is sticking his neck out for Sam, it appears Sam isn’t necessarily the best older brother around- he’s even more reckless than Drake, he seems to be a bit of a bully to Drake, and he appears to be jealous of Drake, who he views as being better than him in every way.
- Finally, one very important gameplay thing, but it appears that multiple paths will finally be a thing with Uncharted 4, which should lead to the game being a less linear experience.
This all sounds absolutely epic to me! It sounds like Naughty Dog may finally be about to craft a game that tops even 2009’s seminal Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Fingers crossed.
