Broken Age Getting Retail Release This Spring

'This will make the game solar flare proof.'

Double Fine’s newest game, the crowdfunded Broken Age, will be getting a retail release this Spring, thanks to a publishing partnership with Nordic Games, they announced today. The game, which saw the release of its first part exactly a year ago, will be coming to stores, with all three versions- PC, Mac, and Linux- available.

“I am very excited about the retail version of Broken Age,” Double Fine President and CEO Tim Schafer said in a press release. “And also relieved, as having a widely distributed, physical copy of the game will make it more safe from solar flares and EMP bombs and stuff like that. As long as people store their disks in fire proof safes. People do that, right?”

“Not really” replied COO Justin Bailey. “But people who purchase the physical copy can get to playing the exciting conclusion without having to wait for the game to download!”

So… yep, that’s a thing.

The second part of Broken Age, Broken Age Act 2, is due out some time early this year as well.
