Earlier last week, there was an alleged “leaked” video of the next Call of Duty game doing the rounds on the internet. The footage shown was recorded off a screen, and showed the game’s (which, according to the leak, would be titled People’s Army) multiplayer lobbies. It looked, as per the leak, that the game would be going back to an old-school setting, as opposed to the futuristic settings of recent Call of Duty titles, and all in all, it looked decently credible.
However, upon closer scrutiny, it’s become clear that the leaked video was a fake. YouTube user PrestigeIsKey recently uploaded a video (you can watch it below) explaining in detail exactly why the leaked video isn’t authentic. He explains that, first and foremost, the Sledgehammer VIP event where this video was supposedly recorded never even happened, and also made the point that if this was, indeed, an authentic leak, Activision would have moved very quickly to have it removed from the internet completely, whereas the video stayed up on Twitter for over ten hours. Watch the full video below.
Sledgehammer have been teasing Call of Duty 2017 for some time now, and they’re also looking to hire people to work on the game’s development, so actual, authentic news on the game is bound to come sooner or later. Stay tuned for more updates.
