Call of Duty Infinite Warfare: Gift Crates Exploit Causes Game To Be Temporarily Be Taken Offline

That should hopefully restore some semblance of balance to the game.

Infinity Ward’s ’12 Days of Winter’ in game promotion for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare got entirely derailed yesterday, thanks to some players discovering a bug that let them exploit day two’s reward to gather thousands of keys, and trade them in for hundreds of loot boxes- completely wrecking any semblance of in game balance or economy.

The exploit centered around a small reward that gave the players 20 keys – keys are a form of currency in Infinite Warfare – with players discovering a way to get the same drop an infinite number of times. As a result of all of this chaos, Infinity Ward had to temporarily take down the servers of the game yesterday, reports Power Up Gaming.

Infinity Ward have confirmed on Twitter that they will be revoking access to all loot crates earned as a result of the exploit, stressing that they don’t want to mistakenly punish anyone who didn’t abuse the exploit. Presumably by this time, however, the issue should be fixed. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is available now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
