Sony’s PlayStation Meeting announcement, where they finally took the wraps off of the PlayStation 4 Pro, was, while ultimately disappointing, still worth tuning in to if for no other reason than for the new looks at gameplay footage that we got for a whole lot of anticipated games.
One of the games shown off at the event was Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which Activision demonstrated running on stage on the PS4 Pro with an impressive gameplay section. Activision at that time discussed the notion of a 4K Call of Duty running at 60fps- but the game demo that they showed off was, Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry contends, neither 4K nor 60fps.
Now, Call of Duty has never been much of a looker, of course, so a part of this is not a surprise- what it has always been, however, has been consistently hitting 60fps gameplay. That’s the franchise’s calling card- fluid, 60fps gameplay. So to know that the gameplay demo was not running at that framerate honestly surprises me.
Then again, it was just an early pre-release demo, after all. Maybe Activision and Infinity Ward will have worked out the kinks by the time the game releases in November.
