Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Is Still on Top of UK Charts

FIFA, Star Wars, and many others also see sales surges ahead of Christmas.

Unsurprisingly, there was a surge in software sales for games in the UK ahead of Christmas week, as per the data provided by UKIE / Gfk Chart-Track (via GamesIndustry). Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which retook the top spot on the charts last week, retains its position, actually enjoying a 42 per cent week-on-week increase in sales. It’s currently enjoying better year-on-year sales as compared to last year’s Black Ops 4, in spite of having been on sales for nine fewer weeks.

FIFA 20 also saw a surge in sale (73 per cent week-on-week), which actually sees it jump from No. 3 to No. 2. Going in the opposite direction is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, though Respawn’s action-adventure title has also enjoyed a 23 per cent week-on-week in sales. FIFA 20’s physical sales are way down from last year’s FIFA 19, while Fallen Order is also tracking slightly behind 2017’s Battlefront 2.

Meanwhile, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Luigi’s Mansion 3 occupy the next two positions. Pokemon Sword at No. 6, Just Dance 2020 at No. 7, and Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo Olympic Games at No. 8 have all retained their positions from last week.

Surprisingly, Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy has seen a huge spike in sales, re-entering the charts at No. 9. The newer Crash remake, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, is in at No. 10.
