Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Pre-loading Has Started On Xbox One, And It’s Kind Of Weird

The pre-load is divided into parts.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is right around the corner, and it will most likely be the biggest game of 2019 by a large margin. Recently, the game has seen confusion surrounding it due to the recommended file size, something that had to be clarified when the PC specs’ recommended HDD use made a lot of people’s eyes bug out. But, well, it’s not the last odd thing about the game’s size, as pre-loading has started on Xbox One, and it’s… weird.

As noted by several Reddit posters, they’ve been able to start pre-loading the game on their Xbox Ones, but instead of doing it all as one big download, which is expected, it is downloading the game in 5 different parts, which it’s calling packs: 2 Campaign Packs, 1 Multiplayer Pack, 1 Spec Ops Pack, and 1 “Hub” game. It totals up to about 45 GB.

Why this is being done in this way isn’t clear. The PS4 version was revealed to be around 61GB, so odds are there will also be a day 1 patch to round out the size to roughly the same, but will the update be a separate “pack”, or will it add on to another pack, like the Hub game? Also, can you delete these and still play the other parts of the game? Such as deleting the campaign mode when you’re finished with it and continuing to play the multiplayer, possibly to conserve HDD space?

It definitely is an odd way of doing it for sure, and we probably won’t know a lot of the answers to that until the game goes live next week. We’ll just have to wait until then.
