Call of Duty 4 is getting an unexpectedly shiny next-gen remaster. Head on over here to have look at our gallery comparison of the remaster with the 2007 original: a lot more love and care has been lavished on this than the mere resolution/framerate bump we’re used to seeing. Better yet, by the looks of it, you won’t have to wait that long to get your hands on it: The Modern Warfare remaster is releasing simultaneously with Infinite Warfare, on November 4th 2016. This isn’t a case of “wait for our nebulous DLC plans late next year.” You’ll be locked and loaded from the get go.
We are, however, a bit disappointed by the news that the Modern Warfare Remaster won’t be sold separately. It will only be available as part of Infinite Warfare’s Legacy, Legacy Pro, and Digital Deluxe editions. Many people have expressed greater interest in the remaster than in Infinite Warfare itself, so we can’t help but feel that it’s case of making people pay for two products when they only really want one.
Still, we can’t deny the evident care that’s gone into the Modern Warfare remaster—work that’s arguably on par with what Rockstar did for GTA V on PS4 and Xbox One. You can pre-order Infinite Warfare’s Legacy edition for the appalling price of $79.99.
