Activision has released the first trailer and details for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Spec Ops mode. This isn’t Spec Ops Survival, which is exclusive to the PS4 until October 2020. Instead, we learn more about the regular mode, including Operations.
Operations consist of several stages and depending on the strategy chosen – a frontal assault or stealth – the enemy will react accordingly. There will be different roles to choose – Assault, Demolition, Engineer, Medic, Recon, and Heavy. Each has their own Field Upgrade and unique perk to tip the scales. Four Operations are available at launch, with more to be added each new season.
For those seeking something more curated, there are Missions. Missions can be played solo or in terms of four, with the ability to earn up to three stars in ranking. You’ll use “specific weapons, killstreaks, and other tools” to get the job done. All Operators are available in Spec Ops and progress from other modes will carry over.
Like Operations, new Missions will be available across all platforms simultaneously post-launch. As for Spec Ops Survival, Activision revealed that it was a “wave-based horde mode”, with up to four players battling it out on one of three maps. The company noted that this was an “additional cooperative mode” and not related to Operations or Missions.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases on October 25th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
