Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Won’t Have “Any Kind” of Supply Drop, Loot Box System – Infinity Ward

More information will be released later this week, says studio art director Joel Emslie.

Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out in just 11 days and there’s still concern over the game’s Supply Drop system. Unearthed during the beta, this system functions like loot boxes, doling out cosmetics like skins, emblems and whatnot. Rumors have been circulating about Supply Drops also containing new weapons, making obtaining them without relying on RNG a pain.

This is nothing new for Call of Duty and Infinity Ward has been fairly mum on whether the rumors are true. The only update we’ve had has been from studio art director Joel Emslie who said that there would be a “direct path to content for players.” In new Reddit post, Emslie cleared the air a bit more.

“What I can say right now is that we are definitely NOT working on any kind of supply drop or loot box system. Also, functional stuff is unlocked through GAMEPLAY. Stay tuned, we’re planning to release info this week.” On the surface, this sounds good but we’re still going to have to wait and find out how things work. Also, just because there’s no Supply Drop system at launch doesn’t mean it can’t be added later.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out on October  25th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
