Call Of Duty: Warzone Will Add Limited Time Classic Battle Royale Mode This Week

Playing battle royale like your grandpappy used to.

Call of Duty re-entered the battle royale fray with Warzone and made a big impact- big, as in over 60 million players big. The free to play title has kept its momentum with many updates, with Activision promising more to come. And now you have new way to play it, which is the… classic way, apparently.

If you haven’t played Warzone, you should know it’s a tad different than the usual battle royale. For one, it’s bigger, with more players, but there’s also the gulag. That allows players who have died to fight there way to a second chance at deploying. Battle royale purists may scoff at that, since generally the genre has had a one death and you’re out rule. Well, for a limited timed, Warzone will offer a classic battle royale experience that takes out the gulag, as well as the buy stations, meaning you have to find your own items and weapons- and once you’re gone, that’ll be it.

It’s funny to think of a genre as young as this as being classic, but life comes at you fast. If you do decide to play the regular way, you might also notice the gulag comes equipped with SMG and assault rifle weapons now, so they haven’t forgotten about you.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The limited timed mode will come later this week.
