Call of Duty: World War 2 Will See The Return of the Carentan Map

But, of course, there is a catch.

When you think of classic Call of Duty, what do you think? Many of the fan’s earliest fans, a number of whom might have lost interest in the games long ago, presumably after the recent games marked a paradigm shift in the series’ direction and focus, probably think back to the original three games and maybe World at War– the World War 2 era focused games, with multiple campaigns to play through, and a fun, grounded multiplayer mode.

Activision and Sledgehammer will be tipping their hat to that era of Call of Duty games, and fans, with this gesture- the Carentan map, which debuted all the way back in the original Call of Duty, before it was also featured in Call of Duty 2, as well as United Offensive, will be returning in the upcoming World War 2.

But Activision will be Activision, and so, what might have been a nice gesture for long time fans, and an acknowledgement of the series’ humble roots, has turned into a money grab- Carentan will only be available to those who purchase the Season Pass, either by itself, or as a part of the Pro and Digital Deluxe Editions. Classy, guys.

Call of Duty: World War 2 launches this November for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
