Call of Duty WWII Campaign Will Be A Bit Longer Than Advanced Warfare, New Zombie Screens Revealed

Sledgehammer shares some more details on its hugely anticipated upcoming game.

A long time ago, back when the franchise was still in its infancy, the Call of Duty franchise used to have substantial single player content, with multiple campaigns, and each of them fairly long, and each usually showing a different side of the war the game depicted.

With recent entries, that was reduced to a single, cinematic story campaign, and one that was fairly short, at that. Call of Duty: World War 2 purports to return to the series’ roots, so on some level, I was hoping it would return to the multi-campaign structure, too. Sadly, that will not be happening, and one campaign is all we will get.

That one campaign won’t be too long, either- speaking on Twitter, Glen Schofield, studio head of Sledgehammer Games, the developers on this game, confirmed that the campaign this time around will be slightly longer than the one in Advanced Warfare, their previous Call of Duty title, from 2014. So that’s that- don’t go around expecting more.

In case your primary attraction to Call of Duty is the Zombies mode at this point- which it is for a lot of people- you can always just check out the new Zombies screens that he shared and posted, instead. Maybe these will help you come to terms with the fact that modern shooters will rarely have the kinds of substantive campaigns that they used to back in the day.

Call of Duty: World War 2 launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in November.
