Capcom’s Jun Takeuchi and Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada Share Thoughts And Hopes For PS5

Two big names in the Japanese industry bat around ideas.

Everyone is speculating about the next generation of consoles. Sony has dropped some breadcrumbs about what to expect with the PlayStation 5, but nothing too substantial- just enough to get everyone talking. It’s not just fans roaming the internet, either, as two big names from the Japanese game industry are thinking about it too, as Capcom’s Jun Takeuchi and Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada recently shared their ideas and expectations for the upcoming system.

In the latest issue of Famitsu, the two developers were quizzed about what they were expecting, and hoping, for with the next generation console. Jun Takeuchi, Head of Consumer Games Development Division 1 at Capcom, said he looks forward to the PS5’s loading speeds, being a fan of action games (and working on them extensively) and seeing how much that will improve both the speed of the games, along with the ease of the user to get in and out of games. He also looks forward to seeing how the power of the system will help push VR forward, because he’s keen to take the technology featured for Resident Evil 7 to the next level.

Harada, Director and Producer of the Tekken series, echoes much of the same sentiments about looking forward to loading speeds, but he also hopes that the new technology under the hood will help with efficiency in development itself. He thinks with things like ray tracing and improved bandwidth, it can save much needed time creating data (thanks to Twinfinite for the translations).

There’s certainly lots of things to talk about when it comes to the upcoming consoles and the changing industry. It goes to show what a ride we’re (hopefully) all going to be in for.
