CD Projekt: Getting Witcher 2 To Run On The Xbox 360 Was Hard

Witcher 2 is perhaps one of the best role playing games I have played this generation. I personally reviewed the game and granted it a superb 9 out of 10. It was always rumored that CD Projekt will bringing this famed role playing game on to consoles and just before E3 they announced that it will be releasing on the Xbox 360.

Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings PC is one of the most visually intense looking game of 2011 with an amazing draw distance, rich looking characters and astounding environments, all running at a solid sixty frames per second if you have a PC that could handle all of this.

It was no surprise that it would be tough to bring the same visual experience on the Xbox 360 and The Witcher 2 developer Marek Ciemak at CD Projekt believes the same.

In an interesting interview with NowGamer, he said, “It was… it still is quite challenging because the game is really complex. That’s one thing. The other is that it has a lot of graphical assets and it was pretty heavy even on PC. But we have some great technology, which helps us to move it.”

But he also believes that the RED engine and the development team is ready to take on this challenge.

“Our RED engine was already prepared for consoles a little bit so it works great on this project. We see it as a new challenge. We don’t have much experience in creating console games, at least not as a studio. So we’re approaching it and doing our best and it looks okay at this stage. So I think it’ll be a really cool, challenging and interesting experience “, he said.

Witcher 2 is already available for the PC and is expected to release on the Xbox 360 in 2012.
