CD Projekt Shoots Down Any Hopes For Witcher 4, It’s All Cyberpunk 2077 For Now

"It’s time for Cyberpunk 2077."

CD Projekt has achieved worldwide success and recognition thanks to The Witcher franchise, and specifically The Witcher 3, which was a fantastic game that raised the bar for what people expect from open world storytelling when it launched back in 2015.

But for now, they are done with The Witcher, and have all hands on deck for the upcoming CyberPunk 2077, their upcoming cyberpunk themed action RPG that was announced years ago, and has, truly, been a long time coming.

“We’ve devoted a big part of our lives to The Witcher and it means a lot to us, so we’re definitely not abandoning this universe,” CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwiński told PC Gamer. “If you miss your favourite characters—give GWENT a go. If you’re a fan of storytelling, there’s Thronebreaker coming out in the near future. However, in terms of big RPGs, it’s time for Cyberpunk 2077.”

It makes sense that they want to focus on what they are working on for now without the distraction of a completely, totally different kind of game to consider- and CyberPunk has been a long time coming, to be fair. I just hope that at some point in the near future, they consider returning to the franchise, is all.
