Cliff Bleszinski isn’t one of those guys who pulls his punches when he’s talking about the video game industry, he calls it like he sees it and this can sometimes lead to the former Gears of War creator to saying things he later regrets. Such is the case with comments he made back in 2008 about PC gamers. At least give the man credit that even when he says things almost a decade ago, he’s willing to go back and fix the record. This time he corrected the comments he made during last night’s Video Game Awards.
Back in 2008, the man affectionately known as Cliffy B said, “The person who is savvy enough to want to have a good PC to upgrade their video card, is a person who is savvy enough to know [BitTorrent] to know all the elements so they can pirate software. Therefore, high-end videogames are suffering very much on the PC.” Last night, at The Game Awards, he made a public apology for those comments while also admitting he now thinks the PC is the superior gaming platform.
He also asked that this be the end of those comments in 2008 being brought up by gamers today. Of course, there are possibilities that Cliffy B is making these comments because he’s working on the PC exclusive shooter, LawBreakers. Even if the motive for Bleszinski to make these comments can be questioned, it’s good to see he’s willing to backtrack on comments that he’s stood by for quite a while.
