Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for the upcoming hack and slash action RPG Code Vein which gives us a primer of the game’s story. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the characters are essentially immortal vampires with special powers who must fight off legions of monsters. If they slip too far, they may become said monsters. Check it out below.
Developed by some of the team behind God Eater, Code Vein’s story draws fairly strong parallels to Bloodborne. Your character seemingly awakens in a hospital and is told the fate of the world. The action itself is very much like Dark Souls but with more potential for juggling enemies and executing special attacks.
It’s very intriguing and the visual style complements the anime cutscenes from Ufotable very well. Code Vein is currently slated to release in 2018 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. If you can get past the obvious Souls-like influences, it looks like a bloody good time so far.
