Studio MDHR’s Cuphead was a stand-out release in 2017, offering a colourful and imaginative art-style that calls back to the 1940s while offering challenging gameplay to test even the toughest platforming veterans. It’s done fairly well for itself too, selling over 1 million copies on PC and Xbox One so obviously this won’t be the last you’ll see of Cuphead anytime soon.
Speaking to IGN, Studio MDHR founder Chad and Jared Moldenhauer spoke to IGN and noted that Cuphead would definitely return “at some point” in the future. Specific details weren’t offered such as whether this would be in DLC or a sequel but it will happen. As it stands, with the game having just released, the brothers have had “zero time to breath or think” so it makes sense that things are vague.
Interestingly, Chad Moldenhauer said that “We would have had two thirty-minute chats about the future. I did promise a long time ago Cuphead Horse Racer 2 in an interview.” Which is probably a joke but given some of the amazing boss concepts we’ve seen in Cuphead, it wouldn’t be strange if that actually became a thing.
