Cyberpunk 2077 Will Be First Person Only, Will Have A Character Creator With Fluid Classes

Has a seamless open world with no load screens.

While Cyberpunk‘s trailer, which was the closer for Microsoft’s E3 show on Sunday, was disappointingly short on details, we thankfully have finally received some concrete information on what to expect from the title following a demonstration of the game behind closed doors at E3 today.

So, here’s the rundown of the important stuff- first, the rumors were true: Cyberpunk 2077 will in fact only be first person. It will not allow a third person perspective. That may be a bummer to many, especially since the game won’t have a preset protagonist you play as, unlike in the Witcher series- rather, there is a full character creator in this game, with fluid classes (much like in Skyrim). The game will also have multiple different progression systems in place, including perks, gear, skills, and more.

There will be six districts you can explore in the game’s city, which we now know is called Night City, but whether or not you can explore them will ultimately come down to how well prepared you are. The world itself will have no load screens, and is fully seamless.

I have to be honest, this actually sounds a bit disappointing to me. To me, this sounds like a futuristic take on GTA, rather than the next RPG from the makers of The Witcher 3, as I was expecting. It’s a bummer, but they have earned enough of the benefit of the doubt from me that I will wait for the game to come out and prove itself to me on its own merits.
