Darksiders 4 Announced for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC

The first mainline title since 2018's Darksiders 3 will feature all four Horsemen and, according to the Xbox Store, supports online co-op.

Following a teaser at the publisher’s 2024 showcase, THQ Nordic has officially announced Darksiders 4. Developed by Gunfire Games, it’s coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, though a release date has not been announced.

A new trailer and details confirm that the sequel is the first co-op title in the series (as listed on the Xbox Store). Set after the events of the first game, it sees all four Horsemen – War, Strife, Fury and War – playable. While it supports two to four players, you can still play solo.

Gameplay will sound very familiar for long-running fans – it’s a third-person action-adventure experience with fast-paced melee combat, “supernatural” abilities and “fluid traversal. Players will venture across “apocalyptic” landscapes to discover secrets and face off against “mythic bosses.”

Given Gunfire Games’ experience with co-op gameplay in Remnant: From the Ashes and Remnant 2, it should be interesting to see how that carries over into Darksiders 4. Of course, the studio has experience with the franchise – several developers, including founder David Adams, were part of Vigil Games, which worked on the original titles. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
