Sony has announced that Days Gone, the upcoming open world zombie action adventure title by Sony Bend, has been delayed by a further two months. It will now be launching on April 26, 2019, which is just a little over two months after its previously confirmed February 22 release date.
The news was confirmed in an update on the official PlayStation Blog about the next set of upcoming PS4 exclusives, where they confirmed that they’ve decided to move Days Gone’s release from the “crowded” month of February.
“We want to share a change in release date for this highly anticipated title from Bend Studio,” Sony wrote. “We recently decided to move the release of Days Gone from the crowded February timeframe to April 26, 2019. While the studio is eager to see Days Gone in the hands of fans, Bend Studio will take the opportunity to further polish Days Gone.”
Well, at least they’re being quite transparent about the crowded nature of February. And it’s not just the month itself that’s crowded- February 22, which was the launch date for Days Gone up until now, also sees the release of games like Metro: Exodus, Crackdown 3, and Anthem.
Days Gone was initially slated for a launch some time in 2018, before Sony officially delayed it and confirmed its February 2019 release. Here’s hoping this is the last delay for the game, but as always, we can take consolation in the fact that the two month delay will probably result in a more finished, more polished product.
