DC Comics have announced a new virtual event, DC Fandome, which will kick off on Saturday, August 22, at 10 AM Pacific Time. As per DC, the event will se announcements and updates from various DC properties across several media. Notably, DC’s announcement states that the event will also feature a new announcement from WB Games.
With a new game announcement attached to both DC and Warner Bros, it’s natural to immediately assume that a new Batman game is going to be announced- and sure enough, that announcement seems long overdue by now. WB Games Montreal – the developers of Arkham Origins – have been teasing what is almost certainly the next major Batman game for a long time now, and with regards to an actual announcement, recently asked fans to “stay tuned.”
In fact, a report earlier in the year claimed that WB Games were primed to host their debut E3 conference this year, and the next Batman game was going to be one of the new announcements they had planned- that was before E3 2020 got cancelled, of course. Another recent report suggested that WB Games Montreal’s Batman game will be revealed in the next few months.
Of course, there’s also the possibility that this is some other announcement entirely. Rocksteady are also working on a DC property, if rumours are to be believed, and their game, too, was set to be revealed at E3, as per the aforementioned report- so perhaps theirs is the game getting revealed in August. Or perhaps this new game is going to be a far less exciting Lego announcement- who knows.
Either way, we’ll keep you posted should we learn anything new, so stay tuned.
