One of the most successful indie games over the last few years has been the critically acclaimed Dead Cells. The challenging sidescroller rogue-lite won’t get a sequel, apparently, but in place of that the game has gotten several major and meaty updates, 14 to be exact. But now the 15th one is live, and it continues the tradition of adding a decent amount of new content.
The newest update is called Corrupted. It adds a new challenge biome. While it’s one of the shortest levels so far, you will start with a cursed chest and must beware giant, mysterious blue birds in one of the most grueling challenges yet. It also adds a host of new items, such as a new rune that reveals key points of the map, along with updating a lot of balancing to the game in general. You can see more details in the developer vlog below.
Dead Cells is available now for all major platforms. The Corrupted update is available now for the PC version of the game, with the other versions of the title getting it over the next few years.
