Dead Cells Receives New Level, Boss, Difficulty in Final Major Update

The rogue-lite Metroidvania title inches ever closer to launch.

Motion Twin’s rogue-lite, Metroidvania-esque title Dead Cells is still in Steam Early Access but it’s received another major content update that ties everything together. In a new video, the developer discusses the six content patch, “Hang of the King” and what players can expect en route to the final release.

As the name implies, you’ll be exploring a castle of sorts with a royal-looking boss at the end. This boss has been described as the toughest till date and if that weren’t enough, there’s a fourth difficulty tier “Nightmare”. Not only are enemies tougher in this mode but you also have NO healing flask to rely on.

Other changes include the Ossuary being slightly shorter, higher quality items being found in Extreme and Nightmare difficulties and much more. Check out the full patch notes for the update here. Dead Cells still doesn’t have a full release date suffice to say it’s coming soon. It’s also releasing for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch along with PC.
