Dead Rising 3 Looking to Appeal to Call of Duty Players, New Details Revealed

Capcom fails to learn its lesson from Resident Evil 6.

During a walkthrough with GameSpot for Dead Rising 3 at E3 2013, Capcom Vancouver revealed that the change in direction for the game including the more serious tone and realistic graphics were in an attempt to be more “visceral” and appeal to the Call of Duty player. The last time Capcom made these kinds of statements was with Resident Evil 6, which turned out fabulously, yes it did.

Dead Rising 3 also won’t have the time limit constraints from the previous games. It will instead rely on open world gameplay and “non-stop action”. The game’s unique weapons are reportedly what will set it apart, although Nightmare mode will apparently feature time limits for split decision making.

Other new details that were revealed include the Kinect functionality, which includes the ability to shout to get a zombie’s attention. One can also shake off a zombie by flailing their arms in real-life.

As of now, Dead Rising 3 is exclusive to the Xbox One.
