Death Stranding Is Slightly Behind Schedule, Kojima Confirms

Slightly behind schedule- but not delayed by much.

We’ve known about Death Stranding for a few years now, but in all this time, Hideo Kojima has been uncharacteristically silent about many things to do with the game- not least of all its release date. While there has been a fair bit of speculation that the game might end up coming out as early as this year itself, as per an update shared by Kojima new interview (via J-Wave) about the development of the game, that might not end up happening.

Kojima mentioned that he and his team are constantly adjusting things in the game while simultaneously playtesting it, a process that, owing to the game’s open world nature, requires a lot more time and attention. He then went on to say that Death Stranding is “slightly” behind schedule as far as meeting with the studio’s internal deadline is concerned (which we know nothing about, by the way), but that said lagging behind shouldn’t result in too much of a delay.

Not too long ago, Kojima did say that Death Stranding will still “take while”, and this seems to be in line with that. Either way, we remain more or less unaffected, because let’s face it- it’s not like we knew when the game would come out before this anyway.

In related news, recently, Kojima Productions also filed two new trademarks that might be hinting at the game’s multiplayer aspects- read more on that through here.
