You could be forgiven for viewing a trailer or two for Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding and not knowing what to make of it. Thus far we’ve seen cinematic trailers featuring Norman Reedus, Guillermo del Toro and Mads Mikkelsen who all portray characters in-game. Their roles are still unknown and information is slow to come by.
Progress is still being made though and director Hideo Kojima has something planned for next year that will apparently up the ante further. Speaking to Dengeki PlayStation (via Gematsu), Kojima said that, “Development on Death Stranding is going well enough that SIE [Sony Interactive Entertainment] told us, ‘We have never before seen a game being created at such a fast pace.’
“We are planning an announcement that will further surprise everyone in 2018.”
Death Stranding was first announced at Sony’s E3 2016 presser. Further trailers would be revealed at The Game Awards 2016 and 2017 at which point the game was confirmed to run on the Decima Engine (which also power’s Guerrilla Games’ Horizon: Zero Dawn). Thus far we know Death Stranding will be an action game with horror tones but beyond that, we’ll have to wait for its release on PS4 and PC.
