Originally slated to launch with the PS5, Arkane Studios’ Deathloop is coming up in May and presents a unique time-bending experience. The story sees assassin Colt Vahn traveling to Blackreef to eliminate eight targets, which is necessary to break the island’s never-ending time loop. In a new interview with Game Informer, Arkane Lyon’s narrative designer Bennett Smith speaks a bit more about Julianna and her role.
Julianna serves as Colt’s primary opposition – she’s tasked with protecting the loop – but there’s a bit more to her character. Bennett notes that Julianna enjoys life in the loop with her personal reasons as to why being revealed later. She also wants Colt to become better to make her experience of hunting him that much more entertaining.
Players can jump into the role of Julianna and invade other players’ games. And while there’s an incentive to ignore that completely, Smith confirmed that there would be additional story material exclusive to Julianna. It’s not a “second campaign” but if you want the absolute full story picture, then it might be worth getting into.
Deathloop is out on May 21st for PS5 and PC. It’s a one-year exclusive for Sony’s console.
